Effective Date: [09/09/2025]
HAYAT TIME LTD (“HayatTime”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operateas the HayatTime mobile application and the website at www.hayattime.com (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1) Who we are (Data Controller)
HAYAT TIME LTD, 71–75 Shelton St, London WC2H 9JQ, UK
support@hayattime.com • +44 20 3769 0778
2) What we collect
Account & Contact: email, name (if provided), support messages.
Subscription/Billing: handled by Google Play/Apple; we don’t store full card data.
Usage & Device: app interactions, screens viewed, device model, OS version, crash logs.
Location: approximate or precise (based on device settings) to calculate accurate prayer times.
On‑device Signals for Features:
Usage Access (Android): app usage times and foreground app package name to power screen‑time stats, focus/session rules, and limits. We do not transmit per‑app usage history to our servers.
Local VPN (Android VpnService): used only on‑device to restrict network for selected apps/sites during Focus/Salah windows. No browsing traffic leaves the device or is sold/shared.
Overlays (Display over other apps): a clearly dismissible “focus shield” UI during sessions. It does not intercept touches outside its bounds or mimic system dialogs.
Exact alarms + Reboot: exact, user‑visible prayer alarms; on reboot we re‑schedule alarms only.
3) Why we use your data (lawful bases)
Provide and maintain the Service (contract).
Send reminders/notifications you enable (consent).
Improve features and fix bugs (legitimate interests).
Prevent abuse and ensure security (legitimate interests).
Comply with legal obligations (legal obligation).
4) Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data with processors only to run the Service, for example:
App stores (Google/Apple) for subscriptions/distribution.
Analytics/diagnostics (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics/Analytics) to improve stability/performance.
Email/support tools to answer your requests.
5) International transfers
Where data is transferred outside the UK/EU, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
6) Retention
We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law. You may request deletion (see Rights).
7) Children
Not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Contact us for deletion if you believe we have.
8) Your rights (GDPR/UK GDPR)
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. UK/EU users may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (UK: ICO).
9) Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method is 100% secure.
10) Permissions & platform‑specific disclosures (Android & Ios)
Location (approx/precise): compute prayer times and related features.
Notifications & exact alarms: deliver timely Adhan/prayer reminders, including full‑screen intents.
Receive boot completed: re‑schedule alarms after device restart only.
Usage Access: measure screen‑time and apply user‑configured focus/limits. Per‑app usage history is processed on‑device; we do not transmit it to our servers.
Display over other apps: show a clear, dismissible “focus shield” during sessions; it does not block system UI or capture outside touches.
Foreground service: keeps time‑sensitive features active with a persistent notification.
Local on‑device VPN (VpnService): optionally restricts network for selected apps/sites during sessions. All routing is local; we do not proxy traffic to our servers; no browsing content is collected, sold, or shared. Users can disable at any time, and only one VPN can run at once on Android.
(iOS)
HayatTime uses Apple's Screen Time Family Controls API to enable app blocking features during prayer times and focus sessions. We use Apple's Family Controls framework to allow you to select which apps to block. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any Screen Time usage data. All blocking is handled entirely by iOS. You can revoke authorization at any time through iOS Settings → Screen Time → Family Controls.
11) Your controls
You can:
Change permissions in system settings at any time (Location, Usage Access, Display over other apps, Notifications, Do Not Disturb, VPN consent).
Turn features on/off in the app (e.g., Focus/Salah sessions).
Request data access/deletion via support@hayattime.com.
12) Changes
We may update this Policy; we’ll post updates here and revise the Effective Date.
